2010 SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM |
|
Mission: To aid
qualified and interested students who desire an education and career in
engineering, architecture, science, math, or a related field of study
through a competitive and merit based scholarship program,
while promoting the achievement of both educational and personal goals,
and furthering the mission of the Society of American Military Engineers
(SAME). Eligibility
Criteria: 1.
Graduating
high school senior or college student. 2.
Must be a
resident of Charleston, Berkeley, or Dorchester County, or be a member,
spouse, or child of a member of the Charleston Post. 3.
G.P.A. of
3.0 or greater (for high school and college). 4.
Accepted
or confirmed enrollment in an accredited U.S. college or university
studying engineering, architecture, science, math, or a related field of
study in 2010/2011. Application
Requirements: 1.
Graduating
high school applicants: SAT or ACT test results 2.

recommendations by advisor/counselor and/or instructor/professor
3.
2-3 page
double-spaced essay describing your academic, athletic, social and
extra-curricular activities, along with why you are pursuing an academic
career in an engineering or related field. 4.
Academic
background and achievement 5.
Leadership
(in school, civic, academic achievement etc) 6.
Extra-curricular
activities 7.
A two to
three page essay explaining interest in engineering or a related field of
study The board
of Charleston SAME officers will make competitive selection with no regard
to race, color, creed, sex, or national origin. 2010

(Friday): Application Deadline May
3rd (Monday): Notification to scholarship recipients by May
3rd. May 13th:
Distribution of scholarships to recipients at monthly SAME Post Meeting.

Society of American Military Engineers

The Society of American Military Engineers offers a very unique series of engineering camps designed for High School students who excel in math, science and technical courses and are interested in pursuing engineering in college. These one–week camps are high energy, hands–on events for students from across the country and around the world. The camps are led by a professional staff of engineers from both private industry and the military services. These exciting week–long camps take place during the summer months in a variety of settings—centered on a military base in the colorful Colorado Rockies, the beautiful Southern California Coast, or the historic Mississippi Valley.
